Nellie Brooks

Likely belongs to the BROOKS Family of

Columbia County, New York. The photo was taken at the Sullivan Bros. Studio in Hudson, NY. The photograph

appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with Nellie likely

in her 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has

written "My Sister" on the back of the photograph.

***

Unidentified woman, also taken at the

Sullivan Bros. Studio in Hudson, NY. Possibly a BROOKS family member. This photograph was probably taken in

the early 1900's with the woman likely in her teens or 20's.

****

This photo was taken at Plum Creek, Dawson County, Nebraska.

This photo has been confirmed by two seperate parties as the David H Brooks family.

The children are left to right: Charles, 1879; Abigail, 1876; John, 1874 and front, Walter, 1888. The wife's name is Martha (Hopkins). The family was one of the early settlers of the region south of Cozad, Nebraska.

Abigail (Abbie C, pictured below) married Edgar Davis in 1901. He built the 1st electric light plant in Cozad, owned and operated Davis Oil and Davis Funeral Home for many years until his death in 1953.

The Brooks family lived on the homesteaded farm until the death of Walter Brooks' wife, Alice, in 1979.

This photo was in the John Luther Condron Album from Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. (John Luther Condron and family migrated from Pennsylvania to the Willamette Valley, Oregon in the early 1900's) ***

Abbie C. Brooks (daughter of David H. & Martha A. (Hopkins- Brooks). Abbie was born in Jefferson Cty, Gaskill Township, PA. She moved with her family to Plum Creek Nebraska. She was the second of five children. (One daughter died at a youthful age in Pennsylvania)

This photo was taken in Cozad, Dawon County, Nebraska. Cozad is very near Plum Creek where the previous photo originated. The back of the photo says "Abbie". The identification of this photo was discovered after I purchased a box of calling cards from a family estate sale. Many of the cards are from the early 1900's. They are from family of J.L. Condron and Margaret A. Bowser of Jefferson County, PA. There was a calling card for Abbie C. Brooks.

The David H. Bowser family can be followed on the following census records:

Cencus records from Jefferson Cty, Gaskill Township in the year 1880 recorded David H. Brooks, age 33 & Martha A. Brooks, age 28 . Their children included John C. Brooks, age 6, Abbie C. Brooks, age 3 & Charles Brooks age 1.

Census records from Dawson, Nebraska, Fairview Precinct in the year 1900 recorded David .H Brooks, age (unintelligable), Martha Brooks, age 46, son John C. Brooks age 26, daughter Abbie C. Brooks age 24, son Charles Brooks, age 21, son Walter M. Brooks, age 18, & a niece Bertha Aber, age 16.

Census recrods from Dawson, Nebraska, Fairview Precinct in the year 1920 recorded David H. Brooks, age 71 & wife Martha A. Brooks, age 65 living at "sons house". The head of the house was Walter M. Brooks, age 33. Walter is listed with his wife and children.

***

Unidentified tintype photo. Likely from Pennsylvania or New York. Condron's, Brook's and Bowser's are found in Pennsylvania. Brook's are also located in New York at the time of this tintype.
